Take Action
Volunteers are the Heart and Soul of ACFB
At the ACFB, our dedicated volunteers infuse life into our organization. Throughout the year, our Food Bank thrives, thanks to these incredible individuals, working in harmony with our small group of dedicated staff. They are the backbone of our community, ensuring that our daily operations run smoothly. They’re the ones who thoughtfully stock our shelves, assist clients, deliver food to homebound clients, offer their skills for special projects, organize food drives, and cultivate fresh produce in our lovely garden.
Over one hundred extraordinary volunteers generously contribute more than 11,000 hours each year to our Food Bank. Additionally, 250 volunteers annually lend a helping hand during the Ashland Food Project Green Bag food drives, held on the second Saturday of each even numbered month. Our volunteer family is diverse, spanning all generations from teenagers to seniors. They hail from school groups, service clubs, faith-based organizations, and local businesses. This tapestry of individuals forms the heart of our ACFB community.
Every morning by 9 o’clock, a group of eight to ten compassionate volunteers prepare the Food Bank to efficiently serve our clients. They set out fresh produce and bread, stock the fridge with milk and eggs, fill our freezer with proteins, and supply our shelves with canned goods. An experienced volunteer coordinator and an intake coordinator oversee each shift, providing the consistency and knowledge that keeps our operation thriving.
